The story about the founder

Twenty years ago, while hiking in Southeast Asia, I got lost and stumbled into a rubber forest being cleared. I saw an old man squatting beside a tree stump, catching the milky sap that seeped from the cut. "They could still live," the old man told me in the local language, "but people can't wait."In that moment, it struck me—the yoga mat I practiced on came from forests like this. We stretch our bodies toward the earth, yet rarely extend our care to the very land that nurtures the mat. So in 2007, I founded Reaching with a simple promise: every natural rubber mat comes from a rubber forest that will never be cut down.We partner with small farmers in the mountains of Chiang Mai and launched the "Rubber Tree Lifecycle Initiative": we only collect the natural latex secreted periodically by mature trees and never cut them down. For every mat sold, we fund the planting of three new saplings. Reach within, grow beyond: people often only stretch inward, but Reaching invites you to also extend outward—the arc formed by your fingertips on the mat is helping to sustain a growing canopy.From the rubber forest to the yoga mat, the true connection has always been reciprocal: as you reach for the earth, the earth is also reaching back for you.
